Anas i ÖrebroAnahita 8:e marsBön

Version 1

”Children of Islam” is a documentary by Renzo Aneröd & Bo Harringer.

Three girls and three boys born in Muslim countries in the Middle-East.

All living in Gothenburg.

All have opinions about Islam, integration, the world and Sweden.

Different opinions.

Some follow Sharia. Others struggle against the rules of Islam.

One is a musician. Another sees music as a sin.

One wears a veil. Others hate the veil.

One says women should obey their husbands. Another fights against the violence of honour.

One is a boxer. Another works in a bakery.

One has been portrayed in the media as an extremist. Another wishes to be a famous artist.

Some love Sweden. Others would rather leave.

”Children of Islam” is a film about religion, culture, conflicts and the search for an identity in Sweden.

A Sweden where the concept of the welfare state sounds as antiquated as the concept of religious identity.

Version 2

”Children of Islam” is a documentary by Renzo Aneröd & Bo Harringer about three girls and three boys with a background in muslim countries.

One wears a veil and at the same time is active in the fight against the violence of honour. She is a boxer. She hopes that she will soon be able to start competing. ”As long as I can wear my veil in the fights” she says.

Another supports the laws of Sharia. He travels around the country to mosques holding lectures about an Islamic world nation to a growing number of young people.

One is a Muslim and a hiphopper. He fasts during Ramadan but performs in the evening and raps. He wishes to get to know the Swedish culture. He reads Swedish authors such as Jan Fridegård and listens to 70's Swedish rock legends "Nationalteatern".

Another wishes to unite his deep religiosity with work and family.

Another has fled from Iran. She has been raped and severely abused in jail. She grew up as a Muslim but today she hates all religion.

One burned her veil on The International Woman's Day.

They are all children of Islam in Sweden.
